  • letters to Gordon H. Lang, Barlow and Co. (Malaya) Ltd, Kuala Lumpur, including general office and business matters, estate management and staffing, negotiations over the acquisition by Highlands and Lowlands Para Rubber Co. Ltd of the Gibson-Anderson group of companies (incl. Sungei Way, Sungei Rengam and Selangor), palm oil sales via Port Swettenham;
  • letters to R. L. Grut, United Plantations Bhd, concerning his work as a visiting agent on the oil palm estates;
  • letters to Ian A. MacDonald, manager, Bradwall estate, relating to his work as a visiting agent;
  • letters to C. E. Hindson at Kuala Lumpur during Lang-s leave, (FEB 1959 – JUN 1960);
  • negotiations over the sale of the Sungei Tawar estate, including a letter to Harold Rapp of Gula Kalumpong Rubber estates Ltd, (11 MAY 1959);
  • following return of Lang, negotiations over acquisition of 51% shareholding by Bousteads Ltd in Barlow and Co. (Singapore) Ltd, (6 JUL 1960 and on);
  • falling rubber prices (AUG 1960);
  • letters to Sim Bock Choon, chairman, Barlow and Co. (Singapore) Ltd, concerning agency business, leading up to negotiations with Bousteads Ltd.
