Papers relating to Mr Cochrane’s time working in Calcutta for MacNeill and Barry. The papers principally consist of diaries, many of which have letters and other documents attached. Also includes business and personal documents.

Mainly personal in content, the papers give also give insight into the early career of a Briton working in newly independent India.

Box 1 – Diaries 1953-55, includes details of receiving the offer of work form MacNeill and Barry; travel out Calcutta; social and business affairs 1953-1955.

Box 2 – Diary, documents and epehemera, 1955-1957. Includes details of two trips back to the UK both made in 1957.
