Centre of South Asian Studies

The Cambridge South Asian Archive

The archives at the Centre of South Asian Studies are available whenever the Centre is open. They comprise a unique collection covering many aspects of life in South Asia. We hold over 600 paper collections. There are two lists available on the site: one gives details of the collections we hold in a short overview, the other is a detailed handlist. The photograph collection is awaiting online cataloguing - a full listing is available on request in the Centre.

We also hold an archive of oral history recordings. This is now available on the website, both as audio files and in transcript. It contains some 300 interviews, and comprises over 1,000 hours of audio material and 10,000 pages of transcripts.

The film collection is also fully available online. Click on the links on the right of this page to go to either of these collections.

Our microfilm collection includes many South and Southeast Asian newspapers and periodicals, a number of collections of personal papers, graduate dissertations, a large biographical archive and government papers.
