Given by Dr R.M.S. Rice.

Photocopy of the first chapter of a memoir by Constance Maude. This gives her recollections of childhood in Bangalore between 1888 and 1906 .

Constance Maude was the youngest of ten children. Her father served for fifty years in the government of Mysore State and did much to further the cause of education in South India. This first chapter of her memoir vividly evokes the life of an English family in British India at the turn of the century. A Durbar given by the Maharajah of Mysore is well described. 29pp.
