| DR L.M. SINGHVI VISITING FELLOWSHIP
Applications are invited for the Dr L.M. Singhvi Visiting Fellowship at the Centre of South Asian Studies,
University of Cambridge.
The Dr L.M. Singhvi Fellowship has been established as a result of a generous bequest by the
Trustees of the British India Golden Jubilee Banquet Fund.
The Fellowship is intended for a scholar from India, working in the fields of Indian society,
culture or history, broadly construed. The Fellowship is for one term of up to three months.
The Fellow would be expected to undertake a programme of research in Cambridge and to give one
or two lectures or seminars during the period of the Fellowship.
The Fellow would be required to submit a report to the Committee of Management of the Centre of
South Asian Studies outlining what he or she had achieved during the tenure of the Fellowship.
A stipend will be paid, together with a contribution towards travel expenses.
Candidates are invited to:
- submit a letter of application setting out as precisely and as clearly as possible the programme
of research to be undertaken;
- give the names of scholars already in Cambridge working in a similar or adjacent subject and with
whom the Fellow would hope to work;
- enclose a full CV, with a list of publications; and
- ask not more than two academic referees to write directly in support of his or her application,
so as to reach the Director of the Centre of South Asian Studies not later than 30 October, 2009.
Please note that, in order to comply with work permit regulations, applicants must send in a signed, original copy of this application, and that all references sent must be signed originals. We can accept electronic versions of all documents in order to meet the applications deadline, but these must be quickly followed up by the original versions.
The closing date for applications is 30 October 2009. The Committee expect to make an appointment
in the Michaelmas Term (October-December) 2009. The Fellow is expected to take up the post in the
Michaelmas Term (October-December) 2010.
